Slow Water Rebellion

Fish.
Heal.
Belong.

Coming Soon...

Fly fishing for connection, not ego.

Healing through Connection

At Slow Water Rebellion, we believe fly fishing is a vehicle for healing. We guide intentional trips to the water to foster connection and promote coping by living outside of the system. It's not about catching fish, it's about catching your breath.

Fly Fishing is for Everyone

We believe in smashing down the doors, walls, and gates that keep people out of fly fishing. BIPOC, queer, neurodivergent, and disabled people should have access to connecting with nature. You don't have to be rich to enjoy the outdoors and feel the healing power of a river, and we have experiences for most budgets.

We Rebel

We rebel against a system not made for everyone. We rebel against our trauma and shame. We rebel against the idea that we cannot heal. We love unconditionally, we accept unconditionally, and if you don't believe in these things, we aren't the guide service for you.

Your Guide

Russell James (They/Them) is a former licensed counselor with their MA from Webster University. They are an avid angler with extensive experience fishing rivers and lakes all around Oregon. They are autistic and have a unique understanding of the needs of underrepresented communities. Working with a punk rock mindset, they hope to expand the experience of fly fishing to people who may be intimidated by the dominant culture of the industry.

You

Russell wants to guide people who are interested in the healing power of fly fishing but are intimidated by the complexity of learning a new skill. They want to offer mentorship to people who feel outside of the system, and left behind by the dominant culture.

They are looking to help people who are more interested in connecting with themselves than they are catching a fish (but also, yeah, catching a fish). Come to the river with them, you may find what you're looking for.
